The department's Legal Division assists the Chief of Police and the department with legal issues, provides legal training, reviews legislative proposals and monitors developing legislative initiatives, and provides input and review of department policies and procedures. The Legal Division also carries out seizure, forfeiture, nuisance abatement, and administrative appeal hearings, including trespass warnings and vehicle impounds, and works closely with other City departments and law enforcement agencies to assist the Chief of Police in accomplishing the department’s goals.
