Active Shooter
Active shooter incidents are often unpredictable and evolve quickly. In the midst of the chaos, anyone can play an integral role in mitigating the impacts of an active shooter incident. The St. Petersburg Police Department Crime Prevention Unit leads you through a careful process of planning and prevention to help you identify your risk and liabilities, and take steps to minimize them.
House of Worship Security
Securing your House of Worship is a presentation designed to give leaders of houses of worship and/or their security personnel the tools they need to create a safe and secure environment for all of their staff and parishioners. The presentation is designed to identify and assess the vulnerability of the various targets in a house of worship. Then suggest ways to reduce the vulnerability of those targets.
Included with the presentation is the option of having one of our trained crime prevention officers perform a security evaluation of the exterior of the house of worship and point out areas of vulnerability and provide feedback on corrective options for those vulnerable areas.
Workplace Violence
The St. Petersburg Police Department offers Workplace Violence training to employers who want to prepare for worse-case scenarios and reassure their employees by having a simple but effective plan to mitigate these tragedies before they occur. Our seminar entitled “Dynamics of Violence in the Workplace” trains employees about the need to communicate and recognize the signs of impending violence. Also taught in the course is how to develop mitigating tactics and strategies that will prevent or lessen the negative effects of workplace violence.
Commercial Security Surveys
This involves business visits by a crime prevention officer who will check the interior and exterior to identify potential security problems and recommend solutions. These surveys are CONFIDENTIAL and FREE.
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)
CPTED is the acronym for Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. CPTED is defined as "the proper design and effective use of the built environment that can lead to a reduction in the fear and incidence of crime and an improvement in the quality of life." CPTED addresses crime problems through controlling the environment.
Identity Theft
This presentation details best practices as outlined by the Federal Trade Commission regarding how to deter, detect, and defend against identity theft.
Realtor Safety
The latest statistics show that 1 in 4 real estate agents, male or female, will be involved in a criminal encounter during their career, and/ or a harassing type situation. Most agents think that it could never happen to them, until one day they find themselves in a confrontation with a criminal. Learn the different ideas and strategies that agents could use to minimize that risk. This seminar lasts one hour and is free of charge
