Amjad Namrouti, DOB 2/20/1994, is charged with 1st degree felony murder for the death of Jamie Hobdy in December 2022.
On December 9, police responded to concerns about a missing man, Jamie Hobdy, DOB 11/15/80. Evidence led detectives to search the area near 2007 Gandy Blvd. On December 12, at the request of the Police Department, the St. Pete Fire/Rescue Dive Team recovered Hobdy's body in a retention pond at that location.
Through the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Amjad Namrouti, DOB 2/20/1994. On December 5th, investigators determined that Namrouti and Hobdy had an altercation that involved illegal drugs and resulted in Hobdy's death.
Detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody by the Pasco County Sheriff's Office on January 20th on this outstanding warrant. Over the next several days he will be transferred to the Pinellas County Jail.
