Body Found

Release posted on 12-13-22 at 9:05 a.m.

Detectives identified the body found Monday in the retention pond near I-275 and Gandy Blvd, as Jamie Leon Hobdy, DOB 11-15-1980, of Tampa, A family member had reported him missing and detectives were able to match a distinguishing tattoo to identify him.

The manner and circumstances of his death are unknown and the investigation is ongoing.

As part of this investigation, this morning the on-ramp lanes from westbound Gandy Blvd to northbound I-275 will shut down at 9:30 for several hours.

St. Petersburg Police is investigating a body discovered today in a retention pond near I-275 and Gandy Blvd.

The St. Petersburg Fire Rescue Dive Team assisted with the recovery of the body.

Investigators will rely on the Medical Examiner to determine the gender, race , and age of the victim.

We have no other details to release at this time.
