Headquarters Update

On 2/16/2017 City Council received an update on the new Police Headquarters Project.  The project is on schedule and within budget so far.  City Council was asked to give direction on three items:

  1. Add a 3rd deck to the parking garage to increase spaces from 486 to 569, at a cost of $1,272,450.
  2. Change asphalt paving to concrete (more environmentally friendly) for a cost of $235,789.
  3. Add solar panel system to the parking garage roof. ( option is being explored at Council’s request) It would produce approximately 25% of the building’s energy needs, producing an estimated $63,755 in energy savings per year. The cost for the system is $2,764,655.

Council approved options one & two, and asked for more information on the solar system for a future decision.
The new Police Headquarters will break ground this Spring, and is on target to be completed December 2018 – January 2019.
