What is an opioid?

There are three types:

  • Prescription Opioids –Buprenorphine, Codeine, Hydrocodone, Hydromorphone, Methadone, Morphine, Oxycodone, Oxymorphone
  • Heroin – illegal & highly addictive opioid
  • Synthetic Opioids (Man-made) –Fentanyl (50 times more potent than heroin ) , Carfentanyl (Elephant Tranquilizer)
Signs of overdose
  • Breathing is slow and shallow
  • They're not moving or waking up
  • You can hear gurgling sounds or snoring
  • Skin feels cold & clammy
  • Lips & nails are blue
  • Pupils are small
