Update: St. Petersburg Police Seek Help from the Public with Homicide Investigation


Thanks to help from the community, Christopher Canfall (DOB 02/07/1999) was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder in Sunday's shooting death of Jermaine Cummings, this morning.

Cummings was fatally shot after he tried to stop a fight in the 1700 block of 29th Street on May 12, 2019.

SPPD would like to thank everyone who contacted us with tips and/or information regarding this case.

The investigation into the shooting and the circumstances surrounding it continue.

St. Petersburg Police Seek Help from the Public with Homicide Investigation

SPPD is asking anyone with information about the shooting that happened around 1:30am Sunday, in the 1700 block of 29th Street South, to call.

Investigators believe Jermaine Cummings was trying to break up a fight at a gathering there, when he was fatally shot.  There were several witnesses at the scene, but most ran when the shots were fired.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call our non-emergency line at 727-893-7780 or text SPPD and their anonymous tip to TIP-411.

St. Petersburg Police are investigating a shooting that happened in the 1700 block of 29th St. South around 1:30 this morning.

Jermaine Cummings (03/06/1981) was found suffering from a gun shot wound. 

He was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information is asked to call 727-893-7780 and reference report# 2019-020354.  Anonymous tips can be sent by texting SPPD and your tip to TIP-411.
