Officer Involved Crash - Update 2

Through the investigation, a fourth passenger from the stolen vehicle was located and detained.  One of the passengers in the car sustained serious injuries. 

At this time, the 15-year-old boy we believe to be the driver is under arrest on outstanding warrants. 

Charges in this crash are pending the results of the investigation.

Update - Officer Involved Crash

18th Ave. S and 7th St. S are open this morning after a stolen car crashed with a sergeant's police vehicle there last night.

The driver of the stolen blue Toyota Camry, a 15-year-old boy, was arrested on outstanding warrants.  Charges against him in this crash are pending.

The sergeant and three people riding in the stolen vehicle were treated and released from the hospital with minor injuries overnight.

The investigation into the crash continues.

Officer Involved Crash

The Saint Petersburg Police Department is conducting a traffic investigation at the intersection of 18th Ave., S and 7th St. S after a stolen car crashed with the police vehicle.

18th Ave. S shut down between 5th and 8th Streets. And 7th St. is closed between 16th Ave S and 19th Ave S.

The sergeant was traveling eastbound on 18th Ave., South when the stolen blue Toyota Camry, traveling at a high rate of speed, northbound on 7th St. S, ran the stop sign.  The two vehicles crashed at the intersection of 18th Ave. S and 7th St. S. 

Three people from the Camry were transported, in addition to the sergeant. Early indications are that all of the injuries appear to be non-life-threatening.

Three people have been detained as detectives continue to investigate the crash.
