Update 2 - Bus Stop Stabbing

Diamond Troutman (11/13/2002) was arrested and faces two felony charges of aggravated battery and possession of a weapon on school property for stabbing Aliayah Barnes (05/05/2002) at a bus stop this morning.  Troutman faces an additional felony charge of aggravated assault for threatening Barnes' mother with a pair of scissors. 

Barnes remains in stable condition at Bayfront Health.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Update and Clarification - Bus Stop Stabbing

As of now, our preliminary investigation has found that two teenage girls, involved in an ongoing disagreement, began fighting at a bus stop near Paris Ave and 6th Street South.  As the bus approached the fight escalated and 15-year-old Diamond Troutman (11/13/2002) stabbed 16-year-old Aliayah Barnes (05/05/2002).  At some point Troutman ran onto the bus.

When police arrived, Troutman was taken into custody.  Barnes was taken to Bayfront Health with a serious injury and is currently in stable condition.

The investigation continues as detectives interview witnesses and review video.  There were between 25 and 30 students on the bus who were taken to Gibbs High School.

Counselors are available at the school for students who may need them.

Student Stabbed on School Bus

St. Petersburg Police are investigating a fight between two students on a school bus that resulted in one 15-year old girl being stabbed in the back this morning.  The bus stopped near the intersection of Paris Ave and 6th Street South.

The injured girl was taken to the hospital for treatment and the suspect is in custody.

More than two dozen other students are being transported to Gibbs High School.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
