Update and Clarification - Bus Stop Stabbing

Sept. 20, 2018

As of now, our preliminary investigation has found that two teenage girls, involved in an ongoing disagreement, began fighting at a bus stop near Paris Ave and 6th Street South.  As the bus approached the fight escalated and 15-year-old Diamond Troutman (11/13/2002) stabbed 16-year-old Aliayah Barnes (05/05/2002).  At some point Troutman ran onto the bus.

When police arrived, Troutman was taken into custody.  Barnes was taken to Bayfront Health with a serious injury and is currently in stable condition.

The investigation continues as detectives interview witnesses and review video.  There were between 25 and 30 students on the bus who were taken to Gibbs High School.

Counselors are available at the school for students who may need them.
