Police & Community Perspective Radio Show

A Radio Show Dedicated to Building a Police/Community Partnership

History

Police and Community Perspective began in the spring of 1997, and was modeled after a similar program in Miami.

The original concept of the show was funded by a federal grant. With the popularity and success of the program, the show continues today.

WRXB 1590 AM, every Tuesday, from 10:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. or on the web at www.WRXB.us during the same time frame

Mission

Police and Community Perspective is a live weekly radio call-in show.

The talk-shows mission is to share the St. Petersburg Police Department's perspective on policing-related issues, update the community on current police initiatives, and receive constructive feedback from the residents we serve.

Our goal is to enhance our partnership with the community and together improve the quality of life for all residents of St. Petersburg.

Objective

Many of the issues that cause concern in the community are based on a lack of mutual understanding.

The St. Petersburg Police Department believes we can do our job better and more effectively when the community understands what our job is about.

The radio show will continue to enhance the communication and partnership we have established with our residents and will provide listeners with a medium to share input on police services and strategies.

Program Schedule

Police and Community Perspective airs on radio station WRXB 1590 AM, every Tuesday morning, from 10:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. The show is hosted by St. Petersburg Police Officers who provide a live forum for the exchange of information and dialogue between city residents, the police department and the guests of the show.

The phone number to call during the show is: 727-864-1600
