Yaudel Enrique Rosabal Fernandez of St. Petersburg has died due to injuries suffered in a May 9th hit-and-run, motorcycle-involved crash.
Rosabal Fernandez passed away this past weekend at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital.
The incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. May 9. Rosabal Fernandez was riding a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R motorcycle eastbound in the 3300 block of 38th Avenue North. At the same time, a gold Toyota Camry, driven by Promise Jermeise Burnett of St. Petersburg, was traveling westbound on 38th Avenue North, approaching 33rd Street North.
At the intersection of 38th Avenue and 33rd Street North, the Toyota made a left turn and entered the path of the Kawasaki motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with the Toyota's passenger side.
Burnett, the Toyota driver, initially ran from the scene with two children in tow, but they returned approximately 30 to 40 minutes later. The children were treated for minor injuries at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. Burnett also suffered minor injuries but did not go to the hospital at the time.
At the time, Burnett was charged with leaving the scene of a crash, causing serious bodily injury. Following Rosabal Fernandez's death. Burnett's charge was amended to leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
The investigation is ongoing.
