Suspect Identity - Homicide of a City Employee in the 4100 block of 12th Avenue South

The suspect is Ladavion King (45). He is being treated in a hospital in Lee County and is in the custody of the Lee County Sheriff's Office. Please contact the Lee County Sheriff's office for additional details.

Summary:
Shortly after noon today, officers responded to the call of a person shot in the 4100 block of 12th Avenue South.

The victim, a 47-year-old woman, was a 12-year City of St. Petersburg sanitation technician. She was shot and killed while sitting inside her front- loader work vehicle. She leaves behind four children.

The victim and the suspect were known to each other, and this was a targeted attack.

The suspect fled the scene and drove south.

Later in the afternoon, Florida Highway Patrol troopers located him in Lee County.

He was stopped on Interstate 75 southbound lanes by FHP and the Lee County Sheriff's Office. The suspect was taken into custody after a stand-off.

The Florida Highway Patrol located the homicide suspect in Lee County. He is currently stopped and barricaded in his vehicle off Interstate 75 southbound. Both Lee County Sheriff's Deputies and FHP Troopers are on scene.

Fatal Shooting on 4100 block of 12th Avenue South

St. Petersburg police are on the scene of a deadly shooting in the 4100 block of 12th Avenue South.

St. Petersburg police responded to the call of a person shot at 12:34 p.m. today.

The victim is a 12-year city of St. Petersburg employee who was a sanitation technician. She was shot while sitting inside her front-end loader work vehicle.

The victim and the suspect were known to each other. The public is not in danger; the incident was not a random act.

Police have identified the suspect, who remains at large.

Counselors will be available to city employees to assist them with their grief.
