At 2:09 pm, on Wednesday, July 22, officers received a call about a person shot at the Childs Park YMCA located at 691 43rd St S.
An 18-year-old victim was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds, and he later died of his injuries. His name is not being released.
Investigators determined that the victim and another 18-year-old man traveled from Clearwater to St. Petersburg to purchase a gun.
They met My' Kiese Johnson (18), of St. Petersburg, and another man at the YMCA. They went into the bathroom to conduct a transaction, and it turned violent. Gunfire was exchanged.
Johnson was shot in the face,(minor injury) and he went to the hospital on his own to get treatment. He was arrested and charged with attempted felony murder.

One suspect, Johnson's companion, is still at large. This is an active investigation.

At 2:09 pm, officers received a call about a person shot at the Child's Park YMCA located at 691 43rd St S. Upon arrival, officers located a young man in the bathroom with a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital.
A short time later, a second victim, a young man, arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound.
We do not have an update on their condition at this time.
