Update: Arrest in Fatal Pedestrian Hit and Run- 15 Ave S -Dr. MLK St.

Through the use of Flock license plate readers, St. Petersburg Police officers located the sedan used in a fatal hit-and-run crash on August 8th and identified the driver, Ashleigh Az'Janae Zinn (20).

A warrant was issued for her arrest. Last night Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies arrested Zinn and booked her into the Hillsborough County Jail at 12:06 a.m.

She is awaiting extradition to Pinellas County Jail to face a charge of failure to stop/remain at a crash involving death.


Fatal Pedestrian Hit and Run - 15 Ave S - MLK St

At 2 a.m. , today, August 8, a dark colored sedan was traveling south on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Street South, approaching the intersection of 15th Avenue South , when it struck a woman.

The woman, age 47, was walking west in the marked crosswalk across Dr. MLK Jr St. S. at the intersection with 15th Ave. S.

The sedan struck the pedestrian, and then fled the scene without stopping to render aid.

The victim was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital and later pronounced dead.
