At 12:15 this afternoon on August 8, a bicyclist, age 84, was traveling north on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Street North, in the marked bicycle lane, approaching the 1400-block.

A Toyota Corolla was driving north on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Street North, when, for an unknown reason, the bicyclist lost control of the bicycle, crossed out of the bicycle lane, and struck the front passenger corner of the Corolla.

He was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital and later pronounced dead.

The driver of the Corolla remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The investigation is currently ongoing.
