Update: Suspect Arrested for 2nd Degree Murder

St. Petersburg Police Detectives arrested Corey Deron Battle for 2nd degree murder in the shooting death of Jerome Smith.

Smith was shot on October 30th and died of his injuries on Sunday, November 2nd.

Battle was taken into custody and charged on Sunday, November 2nd. His booking photo is below.

St. Petersburg Police Detectives are investigating the attempted homicide of a man.

A neighbor contacted police on Thursday, October 30th, at 8:47 p.m., to report he was found bleeding at his home at 833 21st Avenue South. No one else was home at the time.

Police arrived and found that he had suffered a gunshot but was still alive. He was transported to the hospital, where he remains in very critical condition.
