St. Petersburg Police detectives arrested Danielle Newton for neglect of a child, causing bodily harm to a five-year-old girl in her care.

On Sunday, July 13th at 10:30 pm, the child was taken to the hospital for medical treatment due to being lethargic. Officers responded to the hospital, where they learned that the child had ingested THC gummies.

The five-year-old girl remains in the hospital and is in stable condition.

This is an ongoing investigation. Due to the confidential nature of the case, no information identifying the child will be released.
