Student Arrested for Having a Gun on Campus

Tuesday afternoon, a 16-year-old 11th-grade boy at Northeast High School was arrested for having a gun in his backpack on campus. His charges include:

The student did not make any threats, nor did he display the firearm.

St. Petersburg Police Department makes the safety of students a top priority, and any weapon on campus or other threat to school safety will be thoroughly investigated. This serves as a reminder to students that the police department takes these matters very seriously, and the consequences could be severe.
