Man Lived with Mother's Decomposing Body

Release posted on 04-09-25 at 8:12 AM

On April 6, a landlord called police to check on an elderly tenant, Susan King, at 5438 2nd Avenue South, because they had not been able to contact her for several months. Officers responded and spoke to her adult son, Michael Moulton. Moulton said his mother was visiting a friend's home and would be back in a day or two.

Officers returned to the home the next day, April 7, to check if King had returned. Officers searched the house and found her body in an advanced stage of decomposition. The preliminary autopsy results did not show signs of trauma or foul play.

Moulton was detained for an arrest warrant from 2013 for failure to appear on a theft charge. This is an active investigation and additional charges could be forthcoming.
