Hit and Run Fatal Pedestrian Crash on 9th Avenue S.

Teens Charged in Hit and Run Crash that Killed 70-Year Old Man

Five boys, ages 12 thru 15 face charges in the hit and run crash that killed Edward Webb on Monday, October 21st.

Webb was walking across 9th Avenue South, near his home, when a stolen Jeep SUV traveling northbound on 12th Street South turned onto 9th Avenue South and struck him. The SUV fled the scene and it was later found abandoned a few blocks away.

On October 25th, investigators identified the 14-year-old driver of the stolen SUV and four passengers.

Working in conjunction with the Pinellas Pasco State Attorney's Office, investigators charged the driver with: murder in the third degree (felony murder), vehicular homicide leaving the scene, driving without a license causing death, and grand theft motor vehicle.

The passengers, ages 12, 13, 14, and 15, are charged with: murder in the third degree (felony murder) and grand theft motor vehicle.

The victim's name is Edward Webb (DOB 11/16/53).

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Monday, October 21, a Jeep SUV, reported stolen earlier in the day, was traveling northbound on 12th Street S. at a high rate of speed and turned westbound onto 9th Avenue South. It struck Edward Webb as he was walking across 9th Avenue South. The jeep fled and was abandoned at 9th Avenue South and 14th Street South.

The victim later died of his injuries at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital.

Shortly after 8 p.m., a jeep hit a man in the 1200 block of 9th Avenue S.

The victim later died of his injuries at Bayfront Health.

The driver abandoned the jeep a short distance away from the crash and ran from the scene.The jeep was determined to be a stolen vehicle.
