At 2:30 p.m., Friday, November 8, Jason Newberry (DOB 1/28/73) was traveling southbound on 59th Street South on an electric bicycle. As he was approaching 7th Avenue South he failed to yield from the stop sign, and the front of his bike crashed into the passenger side door of a silver Jeep Compass that was traveling westbound on 7th Avenue South. The jeep driver stayed on scene and was cooperative.

Newberry was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from his bike. He was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront St. Petersburg where he died as a result of his injuries later that evening at 10:45 p.m.

This is still an ongoing investigation.
