At about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, police were dispatched to the parking lot of the Kindercare Bayfront Child Development Center, 800 6th Ave. S., for a child that was found unresponsive in a car.

The one-year-old boy was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives learned that when the father went to pick-up the child at the daycare, they told him the child had not attended that day. Shortly afterward, the child was later discovered in the back of the car. He had been there all day.

This is an active investigation to determine what happened and whether any charges will be filed.
