Pride Street Mural Vandalized

Release posted on 05-24-24 at 2:47 p.m.

Over the last week, two different vehicles have left tire marks damaging the Progressive Pride street mural at the 2500 Central Avenue roundabout.

The first time was on May 17th, 9:36 a.m., involving a truck that accelerated through the mural.

A more egregious incident occurred on May 22nd, 2:41 a.m., when a blue two-door vehicle spun out doing doughnuts all over the street mural.

Investigators have no reason to believe the incidents are related.

This is considered a criminal mischief felony offense because it will cost the City of St. Petersburg $1100 to restore the street mural. The City plans to restore the mural in time for Pride month festivities.

Anyone with information on the blue vehicle pictured in the video, please contact the St. Petersburg Police at 727-893-7780 or text SPPD + your tip to TIP411.
