St. Petersburg Police officers arrested David Person (DOB 02/01/1957), for charges involving a violent sexual assault from 2017. His booking photo is attached.

On September 14th, 2017, Person approached the victim from behind and struck her with a closed fist, knocking her unconscious. He then sexually assaulted her.

On April 19th, 2024, detectives with our Special Victims Unit received a notification from the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) that Person's DNA from a recent arrest matched the DNA in the system from the 2017 case.

Detectives spent the last few weeks locating the victim ( who now lives out of the area) and also tracking Person down to take him into custody.

Person is charged with sexual battery, aggravated battery, and false imprisonment.
