The St. Petersburg Police Department and Pinellas County Medical Examiner's Office have confirmed that the remains found at 1720 Prescott St. S. are those of Kelli Fisher. Her family was informed Wednesday evening.

Officers and detectives had been searching for the 42-year-old since she was reported missing from 1710 Prescott St. S. She was last seen driving her aunt's vehicle, which was found in a vacant lot on July 18 without any sign of her.

On July 28, a fire broke out at 1720 Prescott St. S., next door to her aunt's residence. Family members mentioned that she sometimes visited this house. During the follow-up investigation of the fire, human remains were discovered inside.

The investigation is ongoing and active.

St. Petersburg Police and the Pinellas-Pasco County Medical Examiner's Office will collaborate to determine the person's identity and the cause of death.
