SPPD is searching for the driver in a Traffic Fatality that occurred on July 14th at the intersection of 22nd Avenue South and 13th Street South.

SPPD Traffic Investigators are looking for Herbert Jones, (DOB 7/10/1998), after determining Jones was the driver of the car that crashed and killed Jeremiah Jones (DOB 1/20/2004). The two men are not related.

A 20-year-old man who was critically injured in a two-vehicle traffic crash on Sunday, July 14 at 22nd Avenue South and 13th Street has died.

At about 2 p.m. July 14th, a blue Toyota Corolla occupied by Jeremiah Jones (DOB 01/20/2004) of St. Petersburg and a second man, age 26, was traveling eastbound on 22nd Avenue South at a high rate of speed.

At the intersection of 22nd Avenue South and 13th Street South, a black Ford Edge driven by a 62-year-old Altamonte Springs man who was headed northbound on 13th Street South attempted to make a westbound turn onto 22nd Avenue South. The approaching Toyota also crossed into the westbound lanes on 22nd Avenue South and the vehicles collided. The Toyota rolled several times and Jones was ejected before it came to a stop.

Jones was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he died Monday, July 15, of his injuries. The medical condition of the second man in the Toyota was unavailable.

Investigators are working to determine which of the two men in the Toyota was the driver at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Edge remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
