A black Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on 22nd Avenue South near 7th Street South.

A pedestrian, Opprittee Morris (11/17/1964), was crossing 22nd Avenue South from south to north when the crash occurred. Morris was not in a marked crosswalk.

Morris was transported to Bayfront Health where she was pronounced dead.

The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

This is still an ongoing investigation.

At 7:19 a.m. officers responded to a crash involving a pedestrian at 22nd Avenue South and Grove Street South.

The pedestrian, an adult female in her late 50s, was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating.

All of 22nd Avenue South is shut down between 7th and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr South. We ask the drivers seek an alternate route.

Additional information will be released when it becomes available. The investigation is still ongoing.
