Police arrested a 13-year-old 8th-grade boy at Azalea Middle School today. He had a gun and a kitchen knife in his backpack.
He did not threaten any students or the school verbally or in writing.
He was charged with two counts of possession of a weapon on school property.
St. Petersburg Police Department makes the safety of students a top priority and any weapon on campus, or other threat to school safety, will be thoroughly investigated. This serves as a reminder to students that the police department takes these matters very seriously and the consequences could be severe.
