A man hit while riding an electric bicycle at Central Avenue and Travelers Way North on Nov. 20 has died.

Phillip Mains succumbed to his injuries at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital Sunday, Dec. 7.

Mains had been hospitalized since the afternoon of Nov. 20 when he attempted to cross Central Avenue at Travelers Way North in a marked crosswalk.

At the time of the crash, the marked crosswalk signal had not been activated nor did the bicyclist stop for oncoming traffic. The electric bike was struck by a Toyota Tundra traveling westbound on Central Avenue.

The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and cooperated with investigating officers.

The investigation remains open and active.
