Shooting Investigation- Attempted Carjacking

Shortly after 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, a couple parked in front of the Crafty Crab, 2901 Tyrone Blvd. North, and the husband waited in the car while the wife went inside to pick up food.

While he was waiting, a masked man entered the car and attempted a carjacking.

The victim pulled out his own gun and fired at the suspect. The suspect fled the scene and the victim called 911 and waited for police to arrive.

The suspect, Simon White, was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital where he is in critical but stable condition. Once he is released from the hospital, White will face charges including attempted carjacking and occupied vehicle trespassing.

At about 8:10 PM police officers responded to shots fired in the parking lot near 2901 Tyrone Blvd N.

There was an altercation at a vehicle and a young man (age unknown) suffered a gunshot wound.

He is currently being treated at the hospital, but we don't have a status on his condition yet.

The shooter is still on scene with officers.

This is an active investigation. No additional details will be released at this time.
