Homicide Arrest

St. Petersburg Police arrested James Bingham, DOB 7-10-01, for the first-degree murder of Antwahnn Evans. Bingham's booking photo is attached.

On October 9, at 5:36 a.m., Bingham went to a house at 1021 James Ave South. When they didn't open the door, he fired shots at the house with a rifle.

Several members of a family were inside the home at the time. Antwahnn Evans, age 51, attempted to shield his grandchild from the bullets. He was shot multiple times. Evans died of his injuries on October 18th.

At 5:36 a.m., today, October 9, Police officers were called to a home at 1021 James Ave. S. for a shooting investigation.

Investigators have determined that someone fired several shots at the house. A man in his 50s who was inside the home was struck by a bullet. He is hospitalized in stable condition.

Detectives believe this shooting was targeted at the house. They are actively working the scene.
