Murder Suspect Arrested

The suspect wanted in the homicide of Terrance Hill, age 36, that occurred on Wednesday, October 4th, has been identified and charged.

Douglas Lee Dawson, DOB 8-16-89, turned himself into the Pinellas Jail shortly before midnight. He was wanted on several previous outstanding warrants. His booking photo is attached.

He was subsequently charged with murder in the second degree for the shooting death of Hill in the 3900 block of 13th Avenue South on Wednesday. The two men were known to each other and had been arguing before the shooting.

Detectives are labeling the shooting death of Terrance Hill, 36, (DOB 08/26/1987) a homicide.

About noon today, Oct. 4, 2023, officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 3900 block of 13th Avenue South.

When they arrived, officers found the shooting victim, who has been identified as Hill, with life-threatening injuries.

Hill was transported by ambulance to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he was pronounced deceased.

Detectives now are on the scene of a shooting in the 3900 block of 13th Avenue South.

The identity and age of the victim are unknown at this time.

Although its early in the investigation, this does not appear to be a random act of violence.
