St. Petersburg Police arrested two men for the murder of 32- year- old Derrick Mims on May 19th, 2023.

Kevin Lassiter, DOB 11-09-90, is charged with 1st-degree murder.

Troy Lassiter, Jr, DOB 3-20-97, is charged with principal to murder in the 1st degree.

At 5:39 p.m. officers responded to a call of a person shot at 11901 4th Street North. Upon arrival officers located Derrick D. Mims (DOB 12/08/1990) lying on the pavement with upper body trauma.

Mims was transported to a local hospital where he later was pronounced dead. The next of kin has been notified.

Detectives believe this was an isolated situation. This is still an ongoing investigation.

Person Shot

At 5:39 p.m. responded to a call of a person shot at 11901 4TH ST N, Baypointe Preserve Apartments.

The victim is a man in his 30's. He was taken to the hospital but he was died of his injuries.

Very few additional details are available at this time.

PIO Ashley Limardo will be at the scene at 7:15p.m
