The St. Petersburg Police Department has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies since 1985. To keep its accreditation, the Department must comply with standards for professional excellence, and receive periodic on-site inspections and reviews by outside inspectors.

As part of the Department's commitment to best policing practices and building public confidence, there is a new permanent CALEA link on the homepage of the Police website police.stpete.orgwhere anyone can submit comments or information about the overall Department's quality of service.

Comments concerning specific officers or other police employees should still be left through the "File an Employee Complaint" or "Commend an Employee" links on the front page of the website.
