Shortly after 8:15 a.m. Monday, March 20, a pedestrian identified as Seymour Lewis (DOB 03/12/1935) of St. Petersburg was crossing Mirror Lake Drive North at 5th Street North when he entered the path of a white Mazda 3.

When Lewis stepped off the curb in a crosswalk to cross south to north on Mirror Lake Drive North, the driver of the Mazda, who had the green light, was unable to stop in time and struck him.

Lewis was transported to a local hospital, where he died a short time later.

The Mazda driver, who was uninjured, remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.
