Barricaded Man

Release updated on 06-23-23 at 4:21 p.m.

At 14:41 p.m., officers received a call from a Wells Fargo manager reporting that a Hispanic adult man entered the bank with a gun. He was later identified as Jose Albistur (DOB 09/10/1965).

SWAT responded to the scene and were able to take Albistur into custody at 1:53 p.m. The situation was resolved with no injuries.

Albistur allowed employees and customers to leave the bank. One employee hid in the breakroom, but Albistur was unaware anyone was inside. The employee later safely exited the building once Albistur was in custody.

The investigation is still ongoing.

St. Petersburg Police Department officers are working a scene where a man is barricaded inside of Wells Fargo, 2350 34th Street North.

The designated Media staging area is located in the parking lot of Floor and Dcor, 2010 34th Street North. PIO is headed to the scene.
