Carjacking

Release posted on 06/02/2023 at 10:34 a.m.

At 1:14 a.m. this morning, officers responded to a carjacking at the intersection of 4th Ave N and 35th St N. Two victims, a man and a woman, were traveling southbound on 35th Street North just passing 4th Avenue North when they were flagged down by a young woman. Once they came to a complete stop, a man with a gun approached the vehicle forcing them out.

A vehicle description was shared with local agencies when a Pinellas County Sheriff's deputy spotted the vehicle and both agencies authorized a pursuit due to the violent nature of the crime.

The vehicle was involved in two separate crashes before it came to a complete stop at 17th Ave. NE and Bay St. NE. and both occupants ran from the scene.

St. Petersburg Police Officers were able to locate and arrest Anthony Stump (DOB 01/21/2000) and Kylie Nash (DOB 11/25/2005). Both have been charged with Carjacking with a Weapon or Firearm. In addition, Stump is also charged with Aggravated Battery on LEO for driving the stolen vehicle into an officer's cruiser during the pursuit.

The investigation is still ongoing.
