Motorcycle and Pedestrian Fatal Crash Update: Driver and Owner of the Motorcycle Arrested

Two additional people are charged in the January 29th death of a 13-year-old boy at a street racing event: Carlos Fernandez, the driver of the motorcycle, and Allan Boreland Jr., the owner of the motorcycle. Fernandez and Boreland turned themselves in to the Pinellas Jail last evening. See the list of charges below for all involved.

Investigators confirmed that Saturday night (January 28th), a crowd had gathered on 28th Street North near 110th Avenue North for illegal street racing. Johnny Julio Martin brought his 13-year-old son, Ethan Julio Martin (DOB 6-24-09), to attend the event. At 12:35 a.m., Sunday, the teen crossed 28th Street into the path of a motorcycle traveling in excess of 100 m.p.h.The motorcycle struck and killed Ethan and also injured a bystander.

Investigators Still Seeking Witnesses in Fatal Street Racing Crash

Motorcycle and Pedestrian Fatal Crash Update: Father Arrested

Johnny Julio Martin (DOB: 2/25/87 ),the father of the 13-year-old who was struck by a motorcycle and died January 29th, has been arrested. His booking photo is attached. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are pending.

Investigators determined a second person, Erick Borlasca, was injured after the motorcycle crashed into Ethan Martin.

Borlasca sustained serious injury and transported himself to a local hospital. He is in stable condition.

The motorcyclist remains in critical but stable condition.

The investigation is still ongoing, there are no other details available at this time.

Victim: Ethan Martin (DOB 06/24/09)

At approximately 12:35 a.m., a motorcycle going southbound on 28th Street North hit a pedestrian near 110th Avenue North.

The pedestrian, Ethan Martin (06/24/09), was walking across 28th Street North from east to west towards where a group was gathered.

The motorcyclist remains in critical but stable condition.

The investigation is still ongoing, there are no other details available at this time.

At approximately 12:35 a.m. a motorcycle going southbound on 28th Street North hit a pedestrian near 110th Avenue North.

The pedestrian, a 13 year old boy, died from his injuries. The motorcycle driver was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

28th Street will remain closed between 102nd Avenue North to 118th Avenue North for several hours for the investigation.

No other details are available at this time.
