Release posted on 01-17-23 at 8:31 a.m.

Monday- evening, January 16th, at 7:30 p.m. a silver BMW 750IL, driven by Leasha Boyd ( 11/01/85, of St. Petersburg FL, booking photo attached), with a 12 year old child and a 5 year old child in the car, was westbound in the curb lane of 38th Avenue North, approaching the intersection with 40th Street North. Boyd struck an orange Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck that was northbound on 40th Street North and caused it to roll over.

The pick-up truck driver, Miguel Diaz Arzola, (DOB 07/05/60, of St. Petersburg FL), was pronounced dead on the scene by St. Pete Fire Rescue after having to be extricated from his vehicle. Both children were transported to All Children's Hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries. F.S. 119 does not permit the release of the relationship of the children to Boyd.

Boyd was found to be driving while impaired. Boyd was charged with DUI Manslaughter, and two counts of Child Neglect, and was transported to the Pinellas County Jail. The investigation is still ongoing.
