1st Degree Felony Murder Arrest

St. Petersburg Police arrested Jaylen Shazell, DOB 9/22/1999, and charged him with 1st Degree Felony Murder for the death of Demond Perry, DOB 12/5/1996, on February 12, 2022. His booking photo is attached.

On that date, shortly before 3 a.m., investigators determined that Shazell was involved in the pursuit of Perry's white Infiniti when he drove off from a local nightclub, and also in the shooting at Perry's Infiniti 24 times. While fleeing from the shots, Perry crashed on Tyrone Blvd near 9th Avenue North. Perry's vehicle flipped and caught on fire. Perry died hours later from his injuries.
