Fatal Pedestrian Crash

Randy Peterson Jr. (DOB 10/04/1994) of St. Petersburg will face an additional charge of vehicular homicide in connection with a fatal hit and run crash in the 3200 block of 34th Street North May 16.

During the investigation, traffic investigators determined Peterson was driving recklessly, changing lanes at a high rate of speed in moderate traffic before the crash occurred.

The additional charged was filed Monday, May 23.

This remains an active investigation.

At 10:30 p.m. on May 16, a white Ford Mustang driven by Randy Peterson Jr (DOB 10/04/1994) was traveling northbound on 34th Street North in the median lane. A pedestrian, Alija Boskovic (DOB 01/07/1970), was crossing 34th Street North and he entered the path of the Mustang.

Boskovic was pronounced deceased on scene. Next of kin has been notified.

Randy Peterson had ran from the scene on foot and was stopped by bystanders who then detained him until officers arrived on scene. Peterson was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death.

The roadway was closed during the time of the investigation and is now open. The investigation is still ongoing.

All lanes are now open to traffic. Also, bystanders assisted in detaining the fleeing driver until police arrived.

At about 10:30 PM a vehicle hit a pedestrian on 34th St.North at 32nd Ave.North. The victim , a man, died from his injuries.

The driver initially fled from the scene but was later arrested. 34th St.N. has been shut down between 30-35th avenues ,all lanes in both directions, throughout the evening and this morning for the investigation.

Additional details will be released later this morning.
