At 10:30 p.m., on March 12, 2022, a grey Chevrolet Cruze driven by Austin Keene (01/08/1998, Largo-FL) was traveling eastbound in the curb lane of the 900 block of 62 Avenue North. Two pedestrians, Sean Lee Lewis (09/02/1969, St. Petersburg - FL) and Michelle Ann Lewis (11/296/1968, St Petersburg - FL) were crossing in the 900 block of 62 Avenue North, mid-block, from north to south.

Keene failed to notice the two pedestrians crossing the roadway and struck them while they were in the south curb lane.

Sean Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue personnel. Michelle Lewis was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious injuries and is now in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
