Pride Security- Summary of Earlier Press Conference

Release posted on 06-23-22 at 1:18 p.m.

Today, Thursday, June 23, Chief Anthony Holloway reassured the public that the Police Department is taking action to make sure everyone can enjoy a safe PRIDE Parade and associated events this weekend.

Police will have a huge presence, both in uniform as well as in plainclothes throughout the crowd and various events downtown.(parade route graphic is attached)

The Department will deploy extra resources, including monitoring downtown street cameras, video trailers, as well as Skywatch, the Police Department's raised video platform.

Careful planning has taken place to ensure the parade route is secure. There will be no access for vehicles on or off The Pier after 2p.m. on Saturday until the end of the parade. Please make plans to park in the downtown parking garages.

The Police Department has been working closely with State and Federal law enforcement partners to keep up with threat intelligence. At this time, there is no credible threat.

Also, the Department's Bomb detecting K9's will be working to clear sensitive security areas, and the Marine Unit will have boats and jet-skis monitoring the waterfront.

Finally, Chief Holloway reminds everyone to help keep our city stay safe. If you See Something, Say Something.
