Traffic Crash Investigation

The preliminary investigation shows that the Chrysler Pacifica was traveling southbound on 16th street North and drove through a red traffic signal at Central Avenue. The Trolley was headed westbound on Central Avenue with a greenlight and struck the left side of the Pacifica.

The driver of the Pacifica suffered life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized. The investigation is still ongoing.

At 10:05 a.m. this morning, officers responded to a traffic crash at the intersection of 16th Street North and Central Avenue.

A city PSTA trolley and a Chrysler Pacifica collided at the intersection. A woman in her 70s is the driver of the Chrysler Pacifica and was transported to a local hospital due to her injuries. She is in critical but stable condition.

The intersection remains closed pending this investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Traffic investigators are working a multi-vehicle traffic crash involving a trolley at Central Avenue and 16th Street.

The incident occurred shortly after 10 a.m., with at least one person injured.
