Carl Budinsky (DOB 05/06/1976), the victim in a hit and run crash on 38th Avenue North early Sunday, has died. The vehicle police investigators are searching for has been described as a silver or gray Nissan Xterra.
The crash occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, when the electronic cross country bicycle Budinsky was riding was struck from behind by the Nissan in the 7800 block of 38th Ave. N.
The driver of the Nissan Xterra, made between the years 1999 to 2004, did not stop.

A search is under way for a 1999 to 2004 Nissan Xterra with damage to the right front side and a missing antenna following a hit and run crash on 38th Avenue North early Sunday.
St. Petersburg police traffic investigators are looking for the driver and vehicle involved in the traffic crash that left a man in critical condition shortly after 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 27.
Carl Budinsky (DOB 05/06/1976) of St. Petersburg was riding an electronic Ancheer Cross Country bicycle eastbound in the 7800 block of 38th Avenue North when the bike was hit from behind by an eastbound vehicle. The driver of the vehicle did not stop.

At 4:40a.m., Carl Budinsky (DOB 05/06/1976, St. Petersburg, FL) was traveling eastbound in the 7800 block of 38 Avenue North, on an electronic Ancheer Cross Country bicycle.
An unknown eastbound vehicle struck Budinsky from the rear, throwing him from the bicycle. The vehicle then fled the scene without stopping to render aid.
Budinsky was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg and is currently in grave condition.
The roadway was closed during the investigation and was re-opened.
