On December 20th, 2022 at 6:28pm, a silver 2006 Toyota Solara was traveling northbound on 39th Street North, approaching 38th Avenue North. A bicyclist, Jeffrey Alexander Stowe (11/14/1963, of St. Petersburg), was traveling east along 38th Avenue North in the curb lane.

The Toyota Solera stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of 38th Avenue North and 39th Street North, before turning left onto 38th Avenue North. As the Solera was making the left-hand turn, Stowe collided with the side of the vehicle causing him to fall of the bicycle.

Stowe was transported to Bayfront Health with life-threatening injuries.

The driver remained on the scene. The investigation is still ongoing.
