Fatal Crash Investigation

Release posted on 12-12-22 at 7:45 p.m.

Shortly after 3p.m., a white Toyota Tacoma, was northbound in the curb lane of Dr Martin Luther King Street North, approaching the intersection with 38th Avenue North. A red Chevrolet Equinox, was also northbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Street North in the median lane.

For an unknown reason, the Chevrolet driver lost control and struck the Toyota, causing his vehicle to roll.

The Chevrolet driver was pronounced dead on the scene by Fire Rescue. His next of kin has not been notified.No one else was injured.

The investigation is still ongoing.

St. Petersburg Police is investigating a fatal crash involving two vehicles at 38th Avenue North and MLK Jr. St.

The fatality is an adult man, but no other details are available. The other driver involved stayed at the scene and is talking to officers.

The intersection will remain closed to traffic in all directions for the investigation.
