On August 13th at around 9:25 a.m., a blue Honda CBR1000RR motorcycle, driven by Brendon Courson (DOB 09/01/1994), was traveling eastbound on Gandy Boulevard North in the median lane. For unknown reasons, the motorcycle drifted off the road and collided with the guide rail and continued eastbound on the shoulder for several hundred feet. Courson was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained life-threatening injuries.

Courson was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he later died from his injuries on August 14th, 2022. Next of kin has been notified.

The investigation is still ongoing. Speed appears to be a factor in this crash.
