St. Petersburg Police will be distributing $2000 education stipends to 20 graduating students from five St. Petersburg area high schools on Saturday, April 9, 2022.The stipends will be paid to the college or training institution they plan to attend.
9 a.m.- Noon, Police Experience, Police Training Center, 1845 13th Avenue North

1 p.m. - Awards Ceremony, Police Headquarters, 1301 1st Avenue North.
The students will spend a half day in an "SPPD Experience" meeting police officers to learn about law enforcement in hopes of developing positive relationships with young future leaders and possible future law enforcement officers. This will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Police Training Center, 1845 13th Avenue North, followed by the Awards Ceremony at 1 p.m., at Police Headquarters, 1301 1st Avenue North.

The administrators of Lakewood High School, St. Petersburg High School, Gibbs High School , Northeast High School and Boca Ciega High School, each selected four students they believe are deserving of the stipend because they have demonstrated the values of hard work, consistent school attendance, good behavior, and either a history of volunteerism or work at a verified place of employment.
The funding for the stipends comes from a grant received by the City of St. Petersburg Police Department from the Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) focusing on youth and community engagement.
